Illinois man died in crash on I-65 near Falkville Saturday morning

FALKVILLE, Ala. – A fatal three-vehicle crash left an Illinois man dead Saturday morning in Falkville.

Alabama State Troopers say Jonathan G. Hopkins, 52 of Aviston, Illinois, died when a 2012 Jeep Cherokee, driven by James Andrew Terrell, 38 of Huntsville, struck the 2015 Chevrolet Pickup truck.

Troopers say the Jeep Cherokee then struck a 2013 Chevrolet Ambulance driven by Lifeguard Ambulance Service. Hopkins died at the scene. Emergency crews took Terrell to Huntsville Hospital.

Troopers said the ambulance involved in the crash did not have a patient inside and the driver didn’t have any injuries.

The crash occurred on I-65 near exit 322 in Falkville.

Alabama State Troopers continue their investigation.
