SOMERVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) — The Somerville Police Department (SPD) says a man was arrested after barricading himself in a home, leading to a SWAT situation.

SPD says Tyler Blake Bailey was placed under arrest for a bond violation and has been booked in the Morgan County Jail after he surrendered to law enforcement on Black Road.

According to SPD, the Morgan County 911 center received a call around 10 a.m. in reference to a wellness check at a home on Barnett Chappell Road. The caller reported a person may be under the influence of something.

A spokesperson with the Morgan County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) said Deputies, SWAT team and Priceville Police Department assisted SPD with the situation.

“At some point, while law enforcement was enroute to the address given, Mr. Bailey left the residence in a red SUV. After a brief search, Morgan County Sheriff’s Office Corporal William located the same SUV behind a residence on Black Road,” SPD said.

The situation was turned over to MCSO’s tactical team due to Bailey barricading himself inside the home with other occupants inside, SPD said.

After multiple attempts, MCSO said authorities were able to get the person out and arrested without incident. SPD added that Bailey surrendered before entry had to be made.

News 19 has reached out to the Somerville Police Department and the Morgan County Community Corrections for further details on what led up to the situation.
