Morgan County Drug Task Force charges 2 in Hartselle meth bust

HARTSELLE, Ala. – Morgan County Drug Task Force agents charged two people at a Hartselle apartment complex with on meth-related charges Friday.

Michael Logan Hickson, 21, and Amanda Evangeline Speakes, 31 were arrested and charged with various drug-related charges.

Task force agents had received information that people were coming and going from the apartment, locate on Mitwede St, at all hours of the night, Morgan County Sheriff Ana Franklin said. She said when agents investigated, they smelled marijuana and saw visible drug paraphernalia.

After obtaining a search warrant, agents discovered meth making materials, methamphetamine, and a small amount of marijuana.

Hickson was charged with unlawful possession of methamphetamine and unlawful possession of felony drug paraphernalia. Speakes was charged with unlawful manufacture of a controlled substance 2nd.

Franklin said the investigation revealed that Speakes was buying cold pills and providing them to meth cooks in the area.

Drug Task Force agents are still investigating.
