OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. (WHNT) – Big honors this weekend for Miss Limestone Rodeo April Brown. She was named first runner-up in the Miss Rodeo USA Pageant in Oklahoma City.

Brown competed with young women from across the United States, and community members who went with her said the competition was incredibly close.

““We are extremely proud of April for her representation during the Miss Rodeo USA Pageant and we are very fortunate to have her as our ambassador promoting our rodeo,” said Limestone County Sheriff Mike Blakely. “She represented Alabama with great class and dignity and will serve as a great role model for young people as they enter our pageant during our May rodeo.”

Brown was awarded the Horsemanship Award and also had the highest marks on the Written Test, which covers a variety of topics, including current events and promoting the history and sport of rodeo.

Miss Elisa Swenson, 25, of Lakeside, California won the competition.
