HARTSELLE, Ala. (WHNT) -- The Hartselle Police Department continues to investigate a string of 13 burglaries in a four-day span.

Four of those burglaries happened at local churches, three at local businesses and six were vehicle break-ins.

"It rubs people the wrong way when a church gets burglarized or vandalized that just really sits wrong with a lot of people," said Lt. Justin Barley. "We really just want to make people aware that it has spiked because that is a lot for our town."

Officers are working to determine if any of them are connected.

"You're talking about petty cash amounts, it's not a large amount," said Barley. "It's not big scores for these guys, but obviously, they're motivated."

Barley said the department is urging the public to make sure your vehicles are locked, your valuables are out of sight and if you see something suspicious, call.

"When things like this happen, it impacts our community and it takes a community working together to resolve it."

If you have any information on any of the burglaries, call the Hartselle Police Department at 256-773-6534.
