DANVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) — Morgan County officials say a fatal wreck shut down portions of Highway 157 on Monday.
According to the Morgan County Sheriff’s Office, the wreck happened on 157 and Danville Road in the Danville community. One person was killed and another was critically injured, according to a spokesperson for the sheriff’s office.
Troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) identified the deceased victim as Ashley Dawn Ledlow, 39, of Hartselle.
Officials say Ledlow was killed when the 1999 Honda Civic she was a passenger in tried to cross the roadway and got hit by a 2016 Kia Sportage driven by 51-year-old Vikki Renae Roberts of Cullman.
Troopers told News 19 the Honda left the road and struck a guywire. Ledlow was pronounced dead at the scene, and the Honda’s driver, Jason Brantley Lorenza, 35, of Hartselle, was injured and taken to the hospital via helicopter.
Roberts and Pegi G. Defoor, the 73-year-old passenger of the Kia, were taken to the hospital for treatment.
As of 6 p.m. on Monday, all lanes of 157 were reopened.
