DECATUR, Ala. (WHNT) - The Decatur Public Library has a new director.  Sherry Sakovich is in her second week on the job.

She comes from the Huntsville-Madison County Public Library and also worked at the Birmingham Public Library.

Sakovich says she is looking for a new direction for the library, which sees 200,000 visitors a year.

She is working to hire an I.T. person to assist with creating a new digital library, and also wants to focus on reconnecting with what citizens would like to see.

"We really, really are looking towards getting re-establishing out relationship with the community and getting back in touch with the community," said Sakovich.

Sakovich's predecessor retired after 12 years.
