Decatur Police search for armed and dangerous suspect, identify shooting victim

DECATUR, Ala. – Decatur Police said officers are investigating a fatal shooting at a Decatur gas station.

Officials said officers were called to the Wavaho on Wilson Street just before 7 a.m.

Decatur Police identified the victim as Mark Allen Nicholson. Chief Nate Allen said Nicholson was pumping gas, when he was approached by the suspect, robbed, and shot.

Nicholson died at the scene.

Officers chased the suspect, Ricardo Bass in a vehicle but the Bass managed to get away on foot.

Decatur Police have issued a Capital Murder warrant for Bass’ arrest.

Bass is considered armed and dangerous. He is described as being 5’9” tall, weighing 215 lbs., with brown eyes and black hair.

Bass is also wanted for a Huntsville robbery.
