DECATUR, Ala. – Decatur Police are investigating a stabbing on the I-65 Tennessee River bridge in Decatur. Police say it happened before 1 p.m. Monday inside a car going northbound on the interstate.

After being stabbed, police say the driver stopped, got out of the vehicle, and began walking down the interstate.

The stopped vehicle created a traffic backup in the northbound lanes of the interstate as officers investigated what happened.

Police have not identified the victim or the suspect, but investigators say it was a domestic situation. Both people are in custody at this time, and the victim’s injuries do not appear to be life-threatening.
