Decatur hosts world champion archers during Outdoor Nationals competition

DECATUR, Ala. (WHNT) - Competition is underway at the Jack Allen Recreation Complex in Decatur. USA Archery's Outdoor Nationals is July 1-5.

The Outdoor Nationals is actually three events held at the same location during the same week: the U.S. National Target Championships, the U.S. Open, and the Easton JOAD Nationals.

This is one of the last stops before Team USA attempts to qualify for the Olympic and Paralympic games.

The event is free and open to the public. Here's a look at the schedule:

Thursday Qualifications-

  • 8 a.m. - 3 ends Practice and Qualification - Competition Fields
  • 1 p.m. - 3 ends Practice and Qualification - Competition Fields
  • 7-9 p.m. - USAA Annual Meeting - Turner-Surles Resource Center

Friday Qualifications-

  • 8 a.m. 3 ends Practice and Qualifications - Competition Fields
  • 1 p.m. 3 ends Practice and Qualifications - Competition Fields
  • 7-9 p.m. NTC - Lancaster Archery Team Round - Competition Fields

Saturday: U.S. Open & EJN Eliminations

  • 8 a.m. Eliminations & Finals Rounds - Competition Fields
  • 12 p.m. Semi Finals & Finals - Finals Field
  • 1 p.m. EJN Eliminations & Final Rounds - Competition Fields
  • 9:30 p.m. Decatur City 4th of July Fireworks - Point Mallard Park

Sunday

  • 8 a.m. EJN Team Rounds

All awards ceremonies will take place upon completion of each divisions shooting.
