MORGAN COUNTY, Ala. – Morgan County agencies say they responded to a body in the water near the Port of Decatur Tuesday morning.

Crews responded around 7:30 a.m. The body of a man was pulled out of the water around south bank of the river near the Railroad bridge, Morgan County Coroner Jeff Chunn said.

Morgan County Rescue Squad recovered the body and the Morgan County Coroner’s office transferred the body to the Alabama Department of Forensics for an autopsy to determine the cause of death.

The body had not been identified.
