MORGAN COUNTY, Ala. – Authorities are searching for a man and a woman after a gun was fired during a theft at a store near Eva on Wednesday.

Morgan County Deputies were called to Childers Corner after reports of a shooting. Officials said someone located their stolen trailer being towed and confronted the person doing the towing.

There was a confrontation, the person towing the trailer tried to leave but the owner of the trailer shot one of the trailer’s tires – disabling it, according to the Morgan County Sheriff’s Office.

After the trailer was disabled, a man and woman ran away from the scene. Morgan County Sheriff’s Office said they are looking to speak with the two people pictured below:

Jody Mead and Katie

Officials said the man’s name is Jody Mead and the woman’s name is Katie.

Deputies believe the pair are on foot in the area of Lawrence Cove Road and Tom French Road.

A large law enforcement presence was in the area.
