Law enforcement authorities were on their way to the Lone Star state Tuesday to bring back the accused Discovery Middle School shooter. The sheriff's office says there are no special steps being taken for Hammad Memon. Jail officials say Memon will be treated as if he were any other inmate.

A member of the Madison Police Department and Madison County District Attorney's Office departed Tuesday morning for Dallas. Hammad Memon and his mother, Safia, have been in custody there since Friday.

Madison County Assistant District Attorney Tim Gann says Hammad Memon should be back in Madison County in three days.

Gann says a Madison Police Sergeant and Madison County District Attorney's Office Chief Deputy are on their way to Dallas.

"There is some evidence to process out there and some interviews to be made. They are not just going out there, turning around and coming back. They've got some work to do once they get there," said Gann.

Both are working to extradite the accused killer.

Dallas Police arrested Hammad and Safia Memon on Friday.  The district attorney's office says the younger Memon was trying to flee the country and the teenager's mother was helping.

Gann told WHNT NEWS 19 the sergeant and chief deputy, not contractors, are bringing the teenager back.

"He is still a juvenile in Texas and in a juvenile facility there. We would like to have him back here in a more secure facility," added Gann.

Safia Memon will remain in Dallas for now.

"This case has evidence that is involved that has to be processed and has to be in the chain of custody preserved for trial," added Gann.

Gann says Hammad Memon will have a hearing as soon as he arrives back in Madison County.

Both of Hammad Memon's parents are also in trouble with the law. Safia Memon is in a Dallas jail. Dr. Iqbal Memon is out on bond after being arrested on Friday. Both are charged with hindering prosecution.
