DECATUR, Ala. – The Decatur Police Department’s Organized Crime Unit began an investigation into alleged drug activity at the Motel 6 after receiving numerous complaints from concerned citizens.

A search warrant was executed Friday after developing Brett Marvel as a suspect for the distribution of Methamphetamine.

Members of the Decatur Police Department’s Organized Crime Unit, Anti-Crime Unit, and Special Response Unit (SWAT) searched the hotel room and located a quantity of Methamphetamine, Marijuana, drug paraphernalia, a large amount of U.S. currency, and a surveillance camera system was located.

Marvel was arrested and charged with distribution, possession with intent to distribute, possession of Marijuana, resisting arrest and possession paraphernalia.

Authorities say that the currency was seized pending condemnation proceedings.

Marvel was booked into the Decatur City Jail and will later be transferred to the Morgan County Jail in lieu of a $11,500.00 total bond.
