ATHENS, Ala. – The city has gotten a few questions about pink stakes places along Forrest Street and Clinton Street.

On Wednesday, the city posted an advisory explaining the stakes are part of a paving project. A contractor is surveying in preparation for the ATRIP grant paving project for East Forrest Street to Clinton Street as well as the paving on Clinton Street to Highway 72.

A city spokesperson says this is a project that will be done in conjunction with the Alabama Department of Transportation, and at this time, a date for paving is not set. The city will notify the public as soon as a paving start date is issued.
