HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – Huntsville Police say they have arrested three people in a drive-by shooting in which a toddler was killed. Dominique Marshawn Russell, 26; Brittany Nicole Kingston, 26; and Martin Arrendondo Evenes, 26; are charged with capital murder.

The shooting happened at 615 Murray Road around 6:30 Wednesday night.

Huntsville Police tell us officers found a scene that included shell casings in the street and a toddler inside the house, suffering from a gunshot wound. That child was asleep on the couch when someone drove by and fired several rounds at the house. Officers say one bullet went through the front of the house and hit the child.

Investigators worked through the night to piece together details of the shooting. Officers say witnesses told them the shooting stemmed from an ongoing argument. They say a confrontation on social media continued through the evening.

Investigators say the interviews and physical evidence led officers to determine all three drove by the house and fired rounds as a result of the argument.

Huntsville Mayor Tommy Battle released a statement on the shooting this morning, saying “An innocent child is dead because of a senseless shooting evolving from an argument among reckless adults. No matter the root cause, this is criminal behavior, which we will not tolerate in Huntsville. Our investigators have been working all night on the case, made three arrests this morning, and we will prosecute those involved with capital murder.”

Russell, Kingston, and Evenes are being held in the Madison County  Jail without bond.
