BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) — Authorities say the death of a person found in a burning home in Birmingham is being treated as a homicide after the coroner discovered a gunshot wound on the body.
Birmingham police say officers and the Birmingham Fire Department responded to a burning home around 1:20 a.m. Tuesday.
Officers discovered the victim’s partially burned body in the living room. A coroner’s investigation later revealed a gunshot wound to the body.
Police say the victim’s name is being withheld pending next of kin notification.
