HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) - Santa is not the only one who relies on the naughty and nice list. Solid Waste Disposal Authorities Dixie Bray reminds everyone of the importance recycling our paper has on the environment. She also said not all paper goes into a recycling bin.

"We see all of this paper and ribbon that we purchased and think, Oh, that goes in our bin, some of it does not," Bray said.

So, what does top the nice and naughty list for Christmas recycling items? Bray said the nice list is made up of cardboard boxes, tissue paper, plain paper gift bags, shoe boxes, holiday cards and envelopes. But, bubble wrap, glossy wrapping paper, ribbons, bows, anything on the Christmas tree, sticky gift labels, glossy gift bags and foam peanuts are all on the naughty list.

"If you look at items that are shiny and glossy, you achieve that by either paints or medals," Bray explained.

As for batteries, Bray said those do not find a spot in your recycling bin nor your trash can.

"Remember batteries can go beside your bin," Bray explained.
