Authorities recapture escaped Talladega inmate

TALLADEGA, Ala. – The Alabama Department of Corrections says officials have recaptured an inmate who escaped from work release detail in Talladega. Officials say John Adam Mitchell, 43, left from his assigned job location at around 11:30 a.m. Thursday, July 19.

Mitchell was found in Jefferson County and surrendered without any violence according to authorities. Officials say he was recaptured on Sunday around 9:00 a.m.

Mitchell was convicted of receiving stolen property and was sentenced to 5 years. He was serving at the Childersburg Work Release Center.
