LAUDERDALE COUNTY, Ala. - Authorities are searching for an inmate that escaped from the Lauderdale County Detention Center Saturday night.

They said Christopher Wayne Kilpatrick, 43, was last seen fleeing south along Seminary Street from the detention center around 9:14 Saturday night.

Kilpatrick was being held without bond and was awaiting trial for the attempted murder of a Florence Police Officer. He was involved in a shootout with officers last August where he was wounded and taken into custody. Authorities said he should be considered armed and dangerous.

Florence Police believe Kilpatrick escaped in a 2003 maroon Chrysler Town and Country van. The Alabama tag number is 41BM961.

The vehicle will have guard rail damage to the passenger side of the vehicle and a sticker on the rear of the vehicle.

Kilpatrick is 6 feet tall and weighs about 160 pounds. He has green eyes and brown hair.

Anyone who comes into contact with him or sees the vehicle should notify local police immediately, or call the Florence Police Department 256-760-6610, the Lauderdale County Sheriffs Office 256-760-5757, or text a tip to 274637 using keyword FPDTIP plus your message.
