ZEPHYRHILLS, Fla. (WHNT) – Jameis Winston, Florida State’s star quarterback, may be cleared of criminal charges in a sexual assault investigation.  However, the story is not over.

Friday, the woman who accused him in the case spoke out through her attorney, Patricia Carroll. Carroll said her team is calling on the Attorney General’s Office to investigate further.

Carroll said the investigation doesn’t add up.  At one point in the news conference, she said “no investigation was conducted to speak of, into the suspect in this case,” according to WCTV, the CBS affiliate in Tallahassee.

She also said the ‘politics of football’ got in the way.

Carroll claims the investigation has been into a rape victim, instead of a rape suspect.

Carroll is still speaking in Zephyrhills, Florida.  Watch LIVE.

Jameis Winston is a top candidate for the Heisman trophy, which will be awarded Saturday night in New York City.
