ATHENS, Ala. – Three people are charged after they allegedly helped an inmate escape from Limestone County work detail on Saturday. The three were arrested Sunday.

On Saturday morning, the Limestone County Sheriff’s Office received a call from a supervisor at the Athens business where Corey Jefferson had left his work detail.

Investigators say Jefferson had taken a co-worker’s phone from its charger and called Dana Green, asking Green to pick him up during his lunch break and “bring him a girl.”

Investigators say Green called Rickey Gilbert and Kimberly Redus, and the three of them picked up Jefferson about 1:30 a.m. They took him to Gilbert’s home on East Strain Road.

Jefferson turned himself in later that day.

Rickey Levon Gilbert, 46, Kimberly Tashea Redus, 30, and Dana Alan Green, 45, are each charged with permitting/facilitating escape in the first degree. They are being held in the Limestone County Jail on $25,000 bond each.
