ARDMORE, Ala (WHNT) — The Ardmore Police Department (APD) says a man has been arrested in connection with the injury of one of their officers Friday night

APD says that William Corey Haston was arrested Saturday after a high-speed pursuit. The department said that Haston is believed to be the individual involved in an incident where an Ardmore officer was struck by a vehicle Friday night.

Jail records show that Haston is currently being held in the Limestone County Jail on an $11,000 bond for multiple warrants. APD said additional charges are pending at this time.

APD said a police officer has been released from the hospital after being “dragged” by a vehicle during a traffic stop Friday.

The APD said the officer was attempting to make a DUI arrest during a traffic stop when he was hit by a vehicle near the Tiger Mart Valero gas station in Ardmore Friday night.

According to a post by the APD, the suspect was resisting arrest and a struggle between him and the officer began. Authorities said the suspect then jumped back into his vehicle, and the officer was dragged by the suspect’s vehicle.

The department said the officer was transported to Athens/Limestone Hospital, then to Huntsville Hospital where he was treated for his injuries and later released.
