LIMESTONE COUNTY, Ala. – An Ardmore man killed his ex-wife, her new husband, and a roommate Sunday afternoon at their residence on Pinedale Road with a high-powered rifle before killing himself when confronted by law enforcement in Madison County.

According to a news release, the three victims in the shooting are Debra Ann Rivera, 41 (suspect’s ex-wife), Radex Rivera, 41 (Debra’s new husband), and Timothy James Hayward-Boger (a roommate of the other two victims).

Around 1:44 p.m. Sunday, Limestone County deputies responded to a call at 27774 Pinedale Road near Ardmore. They say a female caller told dispatchers she had received a text from Darwin Brazier saying he had just killed his ex-wife, her husband, and a man named Tim. The text also said he was going to kill himself.

Deputies found the bodies of the victims on the back porch of the home. They also found multiple spent rifle shell casings near the carport. The current evidence indicates Brazier fired 30 rounds from an SKS rifle with a high-capacity magazine.

The search for Brazier continued for several hours and included multiple locations in Limestone and Madison Counties. Madison County Sheriff’s Office assisted with K-9 units, the Madison County SWAT team, and other resources.

Limestone County Sheriff Mike Blakely understands situations like this tend to make residents feel unsafe. He shares these words of encouragement:

“Limestone County was recently voted and rated the safest county in Alabama. This type of incident, although tragic, doesn’t take away from that. The victims were specific domestic targets of the offender. This was an unnecessary and unfortunate escalation of what appears to be a long-term history of domestic violence. Domestic violence doesn’t distinguish between communities; it can happen anywhere. It’s important that people are vigilant in reporting instances of domestic violence that they witness, and that victims report domestic abuses as well. We always remain hopeful that vigilance in these circumstances can prevent escalation to the point of senseless tragedies like this.”

“Considering the possible outcomes of what could’ve happened, and the way this developed and the time that went by, I’d certainly say it’s as successful of a resolution as you could expect,” commented Stephen Young, Public Information Officer at the Limestone County Sheriff’s Office during an interview with WHNT News 19.

The death investigation began Sunday afternoon at a home on Pinedale Road in Limestone County.

Authorities say three adults were found dead at a home there. According to the sheriff’s office, all three victims appeared to have been shot multiple times with a rife.

Investigators quickly started looking for Darwin Brazier.

“Darwin Brazier was pretty quickly identified as a suspect with his connection to one of the victims here as her ex husband,” said Young.

At the time, authorities advised the public to not confront him because he was considered possibly armed and likely dangerous.

Their search led them into Madison County. Investigators said they located a vehicle belonging to the suspect on Macedonia Road. The Madison County Sheriff’s Office came, along with a k9 unit, to help according to Lt. Donny Shaw of MCSO.

“We have intelligence from Limestone County that leads us to believe he may be in this area somewhere,” Shaw said mid-evening. “The SWAT team is doing their planning. The perimeter is established.”

 

All three victims were found shot multiple times on the back porch of the Limestone County home.

“Obviously, we want to bring closure to the case and solve the case for the family and for everybody involved, but the first priority is to make sure everybody is safe and we don`t have another incident like this,” Young said.
