KILLEN, Ala. -- It's no coincidence that you can't spell 'Killen' without 'Kill'. Around this time of year, screams are heard all over the Tennessee Valley. WHNT News 19's Christine Mitchell followed the screams to Arx Mortis, where she found things she thought only existed in nightmares.

Arx Mortis is a haunted experience that is now entering its 10th season of business. It is one of the top rated haunted experiences in the United States.

Arx Mortis is co-owned by Vinny and Sheri Grosso, who created the experience as a hobby that has now turned into a full-time job.

Sheri Grosso also works as a biology professor at a local college. She said her husband, Vinny, is the mastermind behind the creativity, and she manages the business-side of things. "He does it because he loves it, I support him because I love him," she said.

Arx Mortis opens September 24, 2016 and operates through October 31, 2016 on select nights.

The ticket booth opens at 7 p.m. and visitors enter the attraction in groups throughout the night.

There are indoor and outdoor segments of the attraction. There are actors, loud noises, flashing lights, small spaces, things that go bump in the night, etc. Oh, and lots of running and screaming, too.

Enter if you dare. Enjoy!
