JERUSALEM – Archaeologists believe they have uncovered the burial slab where the body of Jesus is said to have been placed after his death.

National Geographic experts made the discovery in Jerusalem while doing a documentary about the restoration project of an historic shrine.

The Church of the Holy Sepulchre contains the tomb where Christ was buried.  Footage from the documentary shows teams sorting through marble, plaster and debris when they finally found a marble slab with a cross carved on its surface.

Archaeologists estimate it dates back to the Crusades of the 1500s, and the original limestone burial bed is intact.

The team sealed the tomb back up after they were finished examining it.
