BOAZ, Ala. (WHNT)-- Christy Morrison disappeared back on August 14, 1998 from Boaz.   She was last spotted getting into a vehicle with someone and then vanished, never to be heard from again.

"There is no indication that we have of her appearing anywhere else or in another location," said Marshall County District Attorney Steve Marshall.  "So it continues to be an open case."

Marshall says Morrison is presumed to be dead, but until they find a body, it's difficult to forge ahead with a criminal investigation.   He says they've had numerous suspects over the years.

"In my 12 years as DA, I can't tell you how many different leads that state and federal law enforcement has tried to pursue, most of which have lead to dead ends for us," Marshall said.   "Having said that, there is not an agency in this county that that case doesn't remain a priority and will continue to be a priority."

Even though her body has never been found, Morrison's family erected a tombstone for her in a Boaz cemetery.
