CULLMAN, Ala. (WIAT/WHNT) — Cullman Police Department (CPD) found a man they were searching for in connection to a fatal shooting late Sunday night.

Cullman Police said officers found a ‘critically injured’ man on Hickory Avenue and he was taken to the hospital for treatment. However, the Cullman County Coroner confirmed he later died. The coroner later identified the victim as 37-year-old Thomas James Brannon of Cullman, according to News 19’s sister station in Birmingham.

Monday afternoon, John Wesley Drozda, 36, was found at a Red Roof Inn in Hartselle and taken into custody, according to CPD. Drozda was charged with reckless murder.

Early Monday morning, CPD had released a description and reward for any information leading to Drozda’s arrest. He was considered ‘armed and dangerous’ by the department.

Drozda is currently awaiting transport back to Cullman.
