MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) – Alabama Gov. Robert Bentley will sign an executive order creating a group focused on improving health care in the state.
Bentley will sign an order Monday creating the Alabama Health Care Improvement Task Force, which will work on finding ways to make Alabama health care more accessible and affordable.
Bentley briefly outlined plans for the task force during his annual State of the State address in March.
State Health Officer Don Williamson will lead the task force.
The governor’s office says Alabama ranks among the top 10 states for diabetes and obesity. It also ranks in the top 10 for deaths caused by cancer and cardiovascular diseases.
Bentley will sign the order at 10 a.m. on Monday in the Old House Chamber of the Alabama State Capitol.
