Troopers identify people killed in Limestone County crash


LIMESTONE COUNTY, Ala. – Alabama State Troopers have identified three people who died in a crash in Limestone County.

Troopers said Nancy Martin Carroll Russell, 80, of Athens was killed when the vehicle she was driving collided with a vehicle driven by Levi Chase Gordon, 30, of Athens.

Authorities say a 13-year-old girl, who was a passenger in Russell’s vehicle, also died at the scene.

The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency said the two-vehicle wreck happened around 11:30 a.m. Monday on Highway 72 near Parker Road.

The highway was closed in the area for about four hours while authorities worked on the scene.

A cause for the wreck was not given. Alabama State Troopers are investigating.
