LIMESTONE COUNTY, Ala. — 17-year-old Elkmont teen Isaac Batrum, an Elkmont High School student, passed away Saturday in a single-vehicle accident on East Limestone Road, according to Limestone County Coroner Mike West, family members and social media posts.
According to a family member and a social media post from Elmont High School, the Ardmore Funeral home, visitation will be Monday from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. and the funeral service will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Rose Lawn Cemetary in Athens.
The school posted on Facebook that they are providing additional counselors at school on Monday to help students deal with the loss.
Alabama State Troopers confirmed the teenager was killed when the car he was driving – a 2002 Nissan Maxima – left the road and struck a concrete culvert. He was not wearing a seatbelt, according to troopers.
A 16-year-old female was also involved in the accident. West said the female victim was airlifted to Huntsville Hospital.
The condition of the female victim is unknown.
West said the crash happened in the afternoon between Copeland Road and Mystic Dawn Road.
A GoFundMe account was set up to help his family with funeral costs.
