HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — With heavy rains Tuesday morning, many are wondering if the annual Christmas Parade is still on. The theme this year is The Carols of Christmas.

There’s no need to worry! Sponsors say that the parade will still be happening “RAIN OR SHINE.” The event is hosted by the Von Braun Center and Mix 96.9 and starts at 6:00 p.m. until about 8:00 p.m.

Organizers say the parade will begin at Lot K on Woodson Street and end in the area of Townsend Street, between Franklin and Adams Street.  Several streets and intersections in the downtown area will be affected.

Motorists should expect delays, road closures, and traffic detours beginning as early as 5:00 p.m.  Affected intersections and streets will be closed in phases beginning at 5:30 p.m., and all affected streets will be closed by 6:00 p.m. Please use caution when traveling in the area and be aware of small children as well as adults that will be crossing the street.

All streets should be reopened by 9:00 p.m. Below is a map of the parade route so you can get a good spot to watch the excitement.
