MADISON COUNTY, Ala. (WHNT) - Cindy Marsh has been teaching at Central School for eight years now. The first five were spent teaching kindergarten, but she's been teaching 4th grade for the last three, allowing her to teach many of her students for a second time, often at the specific requests of parents.

One parent, Tracy Hutchins, took her appreciation a step further by nominating Ms. Marsh for our $319 Tools for Teachers surprise. Hutchins credits Ms. Marsh's even-keeled demeanor for her son's success in school, and this was a common theme we heard during our visit.

"I know what my goal is each morning and that’s to make a difference. Bottom line. Make a difference. And you can’t really do that if you’re all over the chart as far as my behavior," Ms. Marsh says.

Like many of the great teachers we feature each week, teaching is a second career for Ms. Marsh, but it was always her lifelong dream.

"You know the light bulbs go off every day, so that’s a reward that I get daily, and I don’t think that there’s another job you could have where you get to have that," Ms. Marsh tells us, "I am living the dream. I truly am."

If you know a worthy teacher, coach, principal, or aide, tell us about them through the Tools for Teachers nomination form.
