WHNT News 19 is committed to helping you, our viewers. That’s why we’ve renewed our partnership with Impact Alabama and the SAVEFIRST initiative.

The project helps qualifying families and individuals with free tax preparation and filing.  SAVEFIRST is dedicated to investing in the financial security of working families.  Our goal is to help you keep all of your tax return and use it to plan for your financial future.

The campaign officially kicks off on January 15.  Last year, SAVEFIRST volunteers prepared 8,230 tax returns in the state of
Alabama and $14.9 million in refunds were claimed.  That’s 31 percent more than 2013.

Here in the Tennessee Valley, IRS-certified students from UAH and UNA volunteer to prepare taxes for people who qualify for SAVEFIRST.

Offices are set up in Florence, Huntsville and Decatur.

Families making $52,000 or less or individuals earning $20,000 or less per year can qualify for this service.

Set up an appointment today by calling 1-844-44-TAX-AL.
