FLORENCE, Ala. (WHNT) – Florence Animal Control is asking for help with more than 45 animals picked up Friday during a hoarding investigation.
The city agency is asking for temporary fosters to help with housing cats and dogs surrendered by the owner.
Animal control officers say it was one of the worst cases they have seen in Florence in recent history.
The animal shelter says in addition to housing, they could use food donations, as well as cat litter and litter boxes to help with the sudden influx.
Florence Animal Control Office is located at 702 E. College Street in downtown Florence, off of Dr. Hicks Blvd. behind the Florence Utilities Department. The phone number is (256) 760-6676. Hours of operation are from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
The woman had cats, dogs and some chickens in her home on Middle Road in Florence. She will not likely be charged, animal control officials say.
