HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) – It’s a time set aside each year to celebrate the major role the men and women of the Armed Forces play in keeping Huntsville on the map.  There are several events planned this week, July 22-27, for Armed Forces Week.

There’s something for everyone, including music, fireworks, sports and free/discounted admission to local attractions.

Here’s the schedule:

Monday, July 22
9 a.m.       Armed Forces Week Proclamation Signing
Location:  Huntsville Madison County Chamber of Commerce (due to weather)

6:30 p.m.   Armed Forces Week Concert in the Park featuring the AMC Band
Location: Concert moved inside VBC South Hall – please bring chairs – no seating provided.  Fireworks are cancelled.

Tuesday, July 23
7 p.m.        Soldier Show
Location: VBC Concert Hall
Soldier Show tickets are available at the Chamber of Commerce or at the
John J. Pershing Community Welcome Center, Bldg. 3443.

Wednesday, July 24
7 p.m.        Soldier Show
Location:    VBC Concert Hall

Friday, July 26
8:30 a.m.    2013 Armed Forces Week “Iron Mike Golf Tournament” sponsored by
AUSA Redstone at The Links Course on Redstone Arsenal

5:30, 7 p.m.  Redstone vs. Community Leaders softball games
Location: Kiwanis ball fields
Game 1: Team Redstone vs. Senior All Stars
Game 2: Community Leadership vs. Senior All Stars

Saturday, July 27
6:43 p.m.    Huntsville Stars Baseball Game – AFW Military Appreciation Night

Weeklong Events:

Free/discounted admissions for active or retired military and families at the Museum of Art, U.S. Space and Rocket Center, Burritt Museum, EarlyWorks, Sci-Quest, Huntsville Botanical Gardens and the YMCA.
