MADISON, Ala. (WHNT) - Clothing for Confidence was established three years ago by Madison resident Madison Rolling with one purpose: help students receive a new outfit for the first day of school. The organization collects clothing donations to give students across Madison County, students who might not have the opportunity of a new outfit otherwise.
"Growing up my Momma always got me a new outfit for the first day of school," Rolling said. "Her reason behind that was, when you feel good in what you wear sometimes it's the confidence you need to move outside your comfort zone."
Students in grades K-12 are invited to buy "new-to-you" items at the Clothing for Confidence Shopping Day on Saturday, July 25 from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. It's located at Inside Out Ministries, at 103 Gin Oaks Ct, Madison, AL 35758.
It is open to anyone in financial need, and there is not a limit on how much someone may purchase. Each piece costs one dollar and Rolling said, for many families, this feels better than just giving the clothes away.
"We've had so many people come in and tell us, 'Hey, as a parent this meant so much to me that it wasn't just a handout,'" Rolling explained.
You can still donate your new or gently used clothing to the organization by dropping it off at one of the donation boxes located at Madison City Hall, Dublin Memorial Park, Madison City Public Library, Inside-Out Ministries and the Maidson Chamber of Commerce at the Hogan Family YMCA. Donations are being accepted through Friday, July 17.
