  • Body found in Phil Campbell

    PHIL CAMPBELL, Ala. – Authorities in Franklin County are working a death investigation. Phil Campbell police confirm a passing driver found the body of a 39-year-old female Sunday evening. The say it doesn’t appear the woman was struck by a vehicle, but they are not ruling out anything while the death investigation continues.  The body has been taken to state forensics for autopsy.   • Alabama prison on lockdown after fight among inmates

    SPRINGVILLE, Ala. – An Alabama prison is on lockdown following a fight among inmates. The Alabama Department of Corrections says five inmates were injured in the fight the broke out around 6 p.m. on Sunday inside an inmate dorm at the St. Clair Correctional Facility in Springville. The injured inmates were taken to an offsite medical facility.  The severity of their injuries is not known. No corrections officers were injured.

    AUBURN, Ala.— Due to the intentional burning of the Oak at Toomer’s corner last weekend, Auburn University is asking fans to refrain from rolling the damaged tree during this weekend’s homecoming celebrations. Revelers are asked to keep any rolling to the Auburn Oak along College Street.     DECATUR, Ala. – A two vehicle wreck on Hudson Memorial Bridge is impacting traffic on Highway 31 for Decatur. We understand traffic is backed up in the area both directions.
