    MADISON COUNTY, Ala. (WHNT) – Huntsville Utilities reports power outages in several areas of Madison County. They tell us crews are working in Hazel Green to fix an outage in the area. That outage affects Spring Tanner Road, Tree Bark Trail, Gerald Drive and Mill Keys Road.   • Volunteer Firefighters Respond to Wednesday Night House Fire

    HARVEST, Ala. (WHNT) -Several Volunteer Fire Departments responded to a structure fire on Salvia Court in Harvest at 9:15 Wednesday night. A woman was inside the home when the fire started.  Investigators believe she was asleep at the time. But she says her dog woke her when the fire started.  The woman got out of the house, but the dog did not make it. Harvest, Monrovia and Toney Fire & Rescue all responded to the fire.

  • Shots fired in Mason Court

    HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) – Huntsville police report someone fired shots in the 100 block of Mason Court. It happened around 4:30 this evening. Police say a woman told them her son was arguing with a group of men. Someone in that group fired a shot that went though the front door of her home. The group of men fled the scene after someone fired those shots. No one was injured. Police are still investigating this shooting.

  • One Person Hospitalized After Hunter Ridge Apartment Fire

    HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) – An apartment fire in the 4000 block of Hunters Ridge Drive sent one person to the hospital late Saturday night. Firefighters say fire and heavy smoke bellowed from the apartment and breezeway when they arrived on the scene. They cut power to the building while they put out the blaze.     ATHENS, Ala. (WHNT) – Saturday was the second annual Walk for Autism at Athens High School Football Stadium. The walk gives people a chance to get to know local children with autism. It is designed to be a family-friendly event with inflatables, music, face painting, children’s games, bubbles and an Easter egg hunt.     MADISON COUNTY, Ala. (WHNT) – A portion of Hobbs Island Road is back open after a wreck closed it down earlier this morning. Two vehicles were involved in the incident. It happened around 6:30 a.m. Authorities say an SUV went into a field, trapping the driver inside for a period of time. Crews freed the woman from the vehicle and took her to Huntsville Hospital.   • Grand Jury to Review Case of Twin Facing Multiple Sex Charges

    MADISON COUNTY, Ala. (WHNT) – A man facing multiple sex charges appeared in court Wednesday, and Brian Lucas will now see his case go to a grand jury. This was Lucas’ preliminary hearing, and a judge determined there was sufficient evidence for the case to move forward. Lucas faces multiple sex charges in Madison County.
