Huntsville street temporarily closed after gas line hit

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – Part of downtown Huntsville was temporarily blocked off after a gas leak Tuesday morning.

Huntsville firefighters blocked off Gates Avenue near Franklin Street just after 9 a.m. Tuesday.

Huntsville Utilities workers said construction crews digging up sidewalk hit a gas leak. Utilities workers shut off the valve to make repairs.

The street was reopened by around 9:45 a.m.
