Authorities identify man dead in Franklin County crop duster crash

FRANKLIN COUNTY, Ala. - Franklin County authorities confirm a person died Monday morning in a crop duster crash. The victim has been identified as Anthony Cottingham, 49, of Trinity

Franklin County Sheriff Shannon Oliver said the crash happened around 9 a.m. on County Line Road in Russellville. There is no word on what caused the plane to go down.

The crash remains under investigation by the FAA.

As the plane was going down, the plane clipped some power lines causing an outage to nearby homes. Power has since been restored.

The plane caught fire after crashing. The Russellville Fire Department was called to the scene to help put out the fire.
