Police say witnesses told them of an attempted drug transaction. The witnesses say they left before completing the deal and left the area with Coyner. Police say several people in a vehicle followed the trio to the intersection of Hillwood Drive and Chicamauga Trail where the shooting happened. Police say the witnesses got out of their vehicle to confront the people in the car following them, then the people inside that car started shooting.

Officers caught up with the vehicle on Bob Wallace Avenue and took the three people inside into custody.

Wednesday afternoon, investigators served a search warrant at a home on Fairview Street in relation to the incident. Investigators say the search led to evidence in the shooting on Hillwood Drive. Earls is being booked into the Madison County Jail on Capital Murder Charges.
