Alabama mom indicted in death of 4-year-old girl killed by train

COLUMBIANA, Ala. — An Alabama woman has been indicted on charges including reckless murder and driving under the influence in the death of her 4-year-old daughter who was struck by a train. reports 43-year-old Amy Reeves Silver was indicted by a Shelby County grand jury on Wednesday.

Authorities have said Silver was driving with her daughter one-night last summer and slowed at a train crossing. They say she then tried to drive across the tracks, got stuck and was struck by the train.

Her daughter, Sharon Smith, was pronounced dead at the scene. Silver was airlifted to a hospital and later arrested by U.S. Marshals.

Silver posted bail in September and was released from custody. She is set to appear in court in April.
