Birmingham grocery worker shot and killed inside store

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) — A mother was shot to death inside the Alabama grocery store where she worked Monday afternoon.

Our news partners at AL.com report Jerika Manuel was shot at a Piggly Wiggly north of downtown Birmingham.

Birmingham Police Sgt. Johnny Williams said Manuel had an ongoing problem with the person who shot her.

Williams stated Manuel and the suspect were involved in a physical altercation just before the shots were fired.

Williams says police are still looking for the shooter and no charges have been filed.
