One person killed in overnight Huntsville wreck

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – A man was killed and another critically injured in a wreck Monday morning in north Huntsville.

The wreck happened at Bob Wade Lane and Memorial Parkway around 1:30 a.m.

Huntsville police said the 39-year-old man was driving east on Bob Wade  when his Dodge Charger ran off left side of the road near W.T. Garrison Lane, hit a utility pole and ended up in a ditch. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The passenger, a 37-year-old man, was taken to Huntsville Hospital and is expected to recover, police said.

Bob Wade was closed west of the parkway because of the wreck until just before 5 a.m.

Police are still investigating the wreck but said they believe drugs and alcohol are believed to be a factor in the crash, and that the vehicle appeared to be moving at a high rate of speed when it left the road.
