UPDATE: Bridgeport woman’s body sent for autopsy, investigators still working the case as a homicide

BRIDGEPORT, Ala. -- Jackson County Sheriff's Office investigators are working the case into a Bridgeport woman's death as a homicide.

Thursday morning, Jackson County Sheriff's Office Chief Deputy Rocky Harnen said Samantha Frison's body was sent for an autopsy to determine the cause of death.

Sheriff Chuck Phillips said the call came in around 10:00 Tuesday night about a woman cut in Bridgeport. He said it started at Normandy Apartments. The initial information was that a woman was badly cut and died on the way to the hospital. But, as Wednesday morning wore on, that information changed.

Investigators had a person of interest Wednesday morning. As they worked and got more information, they said they believe this case is a homicide.

Phillips said they're working to figure out exactly what happened.

They've identified the woman as 25-year-old Samantha Frison, from Bridgeport.

Investigators aren’t releasing any other details right now.

Thursday morning, Harnen said they still have a person of interest.
