1 dead in shooting at Decatur apartment complex, police say one man in custody

DECATUR, Ala. — Officials confirmed a person died July 7 during a shooting at a Decatur apartment complex. One person is in custody July 11 who Decatur Police believe is the suspect.

Brian Richard Belisle, 29 of Decatur, faces a murder charge. DPD says he is connected with the homicide.

Christopher Devon Preston, 31, was identified as the victim, according to Police. They reported he suffered multiple gunshot wounds and died.

Decatur Police Department spokesperson Emme Long said police received a call about a shooting at the 200-block of on 8th Street SW around 10:39 a.m. Upon arrival, police found and located the victim dead.

During an investigation, Detective Matt Young, and U.S. Marshals, identified the suspect as Belisle. The suspected murderer was found in Florence and later booked into the Morgan County Jail.

A report shows no bond has been posted.
