Heavy smoke from controlled burn travels to South Huntsville

Multiple viewers have called WHNT with concerns of heavy smoke throughout south Huntsville Thursday afternoon.

According to the Huntsville Police Department, the smoke is due to a controlled burn at Bankhead National Forest in Lawrence County.

The U.S. Forest Service posted on their Facebook page just before 10 a.m. that 1,800 acres were to be burned Thursday.
