RUSSELLVILLE, Ala. -- Police were called to the scene of a deadly shooting in Russellville that happened around 7 a.m.

Brittney Stiles, age 22, was pronounced dead on the scene. Investigators said she had been shot by Joshua Stiles who is her husband, age 30.

Police said the situation had been an ongoing domestic dispute. The shooting that killed Brittney Stiles took place outside of a family member's home.

Stiles was loading the married couple's infant child into a vehicle in the car seat. Joshua Stiles arrived and tried to drive the vehicle away with the child inside, but the car died because the key fob did not reach the distance he had driven. The child was not hurt at the conclusion of the situation.

Police and deputies chased Joshua Stiles, who had fled in a truck, for about 40 minutes on Highway 247 before Colbert County authorities laid spike strips down. They set up a road block, but he drove off the road into the woods. Before deputies caught up to him, he had killed himself.

The Colbert County Coroner has transported Joshua Stiles' body to state forensics for an autopsy.
