LIMESTONE COUNTY, Ala. - The Limestone County Sheriff's Office  confirms that two people are dead from gunshot wounds in the East Limestone area.

Officials said this happened at a home on East Limestone Road near Ed Ray Road, north of Nick Davis Road.

The sheriff's office said they believe that 74-year-old Jackie Perry shot and killed his wife, 73-year-old Linda Perry, before shooting himself.

The two were going through a divorce, and it appears Linda had gone to the residence to remove some of her items when the incident occurred.  According to their divorce filing, Linda blamed Jackie's history of adultery to contributing to the deterioration of their marriage.

Some of Linda’s family, who apparently had arrived to help her remove the items, called 911 about 10:00 this morning and reported that they heard gunshots inside the residence.

The scene is being investigated as an apparent murder/suicide.
